Barak was the son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali who was summoned by Deborah the judge to fight against Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, taking ten thousand men with him from the sons of Zebulun and Naphtali, and the Lord will deliver them into Barak's hand. Barak refused to go into battle unless Deborah went with him. Deborah said she will, but because of the way Barak was going about it, she said there will be no glory in it for him, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hands of a woman.
Barak and his men defeated Sisera's troops at the Brook Kishon, but Sisera fled and Barak chased after him. Later on he found Sisera in the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite, who drove a tent peg into his head that killed him.
Barak and Deborah sang a song of praise unto the Lord, which is found in Judges chapter 5.
