Pekahiah (Hebrew:פְּקַחְיָה Pəqaḥyā) was the seventeenth antepenultimate king of Israel, being the son of Menahem, and the penultimate king of his father's house.
He ruled in the fiftieth year of Uzziah king of Judah and ruled in Samaria. He ruled for two years in his father's stead.[1] He "did evil in the eyes of the Lord. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit."[2] As a result of his tyranny, one of his chief officers, Pekah son of Remaliah, conspired against him with fifty men from Gilead, and assassinated him with Argob and Arieh; therefore, succeeding him as king of Israel.[3]
